Spalding Training

Training was AWESOME today!  I really wasn't nervous at all, the teachers were receptive, and although I bombarded them with information, they were amazing troopers.  I think seeing the program in action on the video rally helped the teachers see the bigger picture.

They even willingly accepted their homework assignment that should be done before we return back to school.

My hopes are that the teachers will realize how much I am willing to give this program, and how my willingness to devote time and energy will be helpful to them.  My support may not be there in the future, and this is the only program that we could have this kind of support in house.

I am so excited to support my teachers as we to on this literacy journey!

Pre-Training!

I am so excited to share that the teachers at my school have agreed to give Spalding a try!  We have been in need of a new phonics program that wasn't "baby-ish".  I am so passionate about this program because I have seen how well it works and the growth students show with it.

As a part of my final assignment for Graduate School, I planned the training for the staff in our building. At the time, the decision hadn't quite been made, and I wasn't sure if they were going to go with Spalding, but I planned away for the requirements for my course.  Needless to say, a lot has changed in my planning....especially since I realized the time I allotted for training wasn't quite enough!

I spent 4 hours in my room this morning finalizing plans for tomorrow morning.  All the materials are laid out on my table for the presentation.  The DVD is loaded into the computer, and the teacher folders have been laid out on the table by my door.

Right now I'm baking like a mad woman...my wonderful husband reminded that if I feed the teachers they will listen and be positive about learning something new!  Here's hoping that it all works out tomorrow.

Stay tuned for an update tomorrow after the training is finished.
